trying for a smile

I have tried and tried to get Eleanor to smile for me with the camera.  I have to be really, really quick to even capture a semblance of one.  Every time I put the camera up to my eye she stops smiling.  This is a sequence from this afternoon.

She's been holding her hands like this and I think it's super cute.  :)

3 months a bit late

I've been swamped this month.  Photographing for the holidays has left this blog neglected, but things are slowing down now a bit.

Eleanor turned 3 months on the 20th.  I took some pictures while we were in Houston for Thanksgiving but just now edited them.  I took her to the doctor last month around the 3 month mark and she weighed 10lbs 6oz.  She's little!  At 3 months, she's doing all the things 3 monthers do.  She's pushing up, sleeping pretty well, smiling at us a lot.  I think she's going to be a tougher audience for the smiles than Hutson was. I can't capture it on the camera very well.  She's also noticeably shyer than Hutson was.  It's so interesting to me how much you can tell about her personality so early.

3 months:

I didn't get a picture with the dress I wore as a baby until yesterday.  She's really starting to fill it out.

Hutson would not participate in the photo shoot even though he was wearing his big brother shirt.  So we have a picture of the little sister all be herself.  She looks thrilled doesn't she.  :)  Thanks for the cute shirt Rachel!  

2 months

Last week Ella turned 2 months.  I was a little under the weather so I didn't get her pictures taken till this weekend.  I tried for one of Hutson and Ella together but didn't get anything.  Hutson is boycotting the camera lately.  Eleanor doesn't have much choice.  :)

My friend Anna is comparing her two kids' growth patterns and I thought it was a fun idea and stole the idea from her.
Hutson birth:
9 lbs 1 oz (90%), 20 1/2 inches (90%)
Ella birth:
6 lbs 15 oz (25%), 20 inches (75%)

Hutson 2 months:
12 lbs, 11 oz (75%), 22 3/4 inches (50%), 41 cm head circumference (75%)
Ella 2 months:
9lbs 4 oz (10%), 22 1/4 inches (50%), 39 cm head circumference (50%)

Ella at two months:
- smiles at us and the ceiling fan.  It's pretty funny to watch her give big smiles to the ceiling fans.
- sleeps sometimes 9 hours at night!
- rolled over three times in a row from front to back.  However she was in the pack and play and has not repeated this.
- loves to be outside
- doesn't really care for the bottle but will tolerate it if there is no other option.

This weekend we went to Houston or Fulshear to be exact.  I begged and pleaded with Hutson to let me take some pictures in Mike's parents backyard.  I finally had to resort to a bribe.  He wanted a popsicle.  Thankfully Aunt Ti and Uncle Joe had some and Grant graciously went to his house for it.  Thanks Grant!  I grabbed MawMaw's ukulele for the pics.  She played it in high school.  Isn't that cool!  Hutson ended up having a blast and we only took pics for about 20 minutes.  He loves to sing and play instruments so it was perfect.
