"take it off, Mommy"

Hutson has gotten very demanding as of late.  His favorite phrases are "Get up,  Mommy," "Come on, Mommy," "Get it, Mommy."  We're trying to work please into his vocabulary.  On this day he pleaded with me to wear this shirt.  After putting it on him he immediately said, "Take it off Mommy."  I found it very funny and took some pictures.

His sentences when talking about other things are getting more complex too.  Today he told me, "Jesus not coming to Mommy's house."  He goes to a Methodist preschool and I have no idea what they've been talking about there.  Earlier today while doing something he shouldn't he looked at me and said, "No Mommy!  I not doing anything."

bad blogger

So I haven't posted in a while.  I'm not as bad as my friend Anna but it has been a while.  (I love you, Anna!).  A lot has happened recently.  Hutson and I took a trip to Houston for Spring Break.  I was able to photograph a lot.  Check out www.callieannephotography.blogspot.com for the results of the trip.  I even got to do a spur of the moment newborn!  I was super nervous but very excited.
We also had visitors last Saturday!  Nick, Laura, and Owen came to see us.  Below are some pics.  We had fun taking them to our favorite burger joint and Hutson and Owen enjoyed some fun park time together.

Phil's Ice House

Today Hutson and I had some fun at a cool burger joint here in Austin, Phil's Ice House.  I love it here because there are some fun walls to take pictures with.

the notebook

Maggie of No Mommy Brain inspired me to get Hutson a notebook to draw/write in. The kid loves to write and draw or some may call it scribble. Anyway, Maggie's son Liam has a notebook and has had one for year and it's all over his blog. So I thought Hutson might enjoy one too. So yesterday at the grocery store (our amazing suburban HEB-one good thing about living in the burbs!) I found some washable crayons and a sketch pad. Hutson immediately took it and began writing in the shopping cart. I was super impressed he didn't write over our groceries and the cart but he just wrote on the paper. He is constantly asking me to help him write his name or Grant's name. (He loves Grant and said today spontaneously, "I like Grant.") Grant is Hutson's first cousin. He's also telling us what he doesn't like. I gave him a pop-tart yesterday (I know...bad Mommy nutrition faux-pas) and he said, "I not like it." The kid will eat all kind of veggies and fruits but doesn't like pop-tarts.

Happy Birthday to Aunt Ti

and hi to Grant and Uncle Joe.

oldies

Here are a couple of photos from July that I reedited. I love walking away images...something about them. I have a million of them because Hutson doesn't really like the camera. However I'm finding now that he's getting a little older bribery works. He'll stand still for a couple of seconds for a M&M! Anyway tell me what you think of these. I played around a lot and added some stuff. Do you like this or the cleaner editing I normally do?

bubbles

Hutson LOVES bubbles.  We were at the grocery store last week and I bought him some. I didn't think the whole plan through but quickly realized that 2 year old+bubbles=BIG mess.  So when he wanted to hold the bubbles and wand with no help from me I decided we needed to put the bubbles up for another day.  He was not a happy boy!  Yesterday I found the best bubble container.  I bought it last year and forgot we had it.  It's spill proof!  That's right you can turn it over and it doesn't come pouring out.  I highly recommend it.  Hutson had lots of fun attempting to blow bubbles and then wiping the bubble liquid all over his legs and then rolling around in the dirt.  Boys are fun!

A day at the park

Hutson and I met some friends at the park last week. It was beautiful here and warm enough for Hutson to wear shorts and this really cool t-shirt he got for his birthday from Elliot, Jennifer, and Tom. Thanks guys! We love it. The park is Zilker park and I think it's Hutson's favorite park here in Austin. It's got a great playground with a very cool fire truck to play on AND a train to ride around the park. So fun!

He looks like such a big boy to me here.
